The Spirit Animal Award

It’s been quite the busy weekend as I’ve spent much time working on A Mushi Life and preparing new chapters. My husband gave me a grand Mother’s Day gift–taking care of the kids so I don’t have to. It’s been a wonderful and peaceful weekend. ❤

Originally a gift for ciane on the sims forums for the Spooktacular Gift Exchange in October 2015, I hadn’t planned for Mushi’s story to take so long to finish. However, as usual, life gets in the way and prolongs my ideas and goals. I decided last night that I would finish it in the next week or so. I wouldn’t work on any of my other projects. It’s a big commitment, but one I plan on executing. The story is mostly written, done during NaNoWriMo in November last year. But I hate editing. Haha! So, yeah.

This afternoon as I played on the forums and edited Mushi’s chapters, I received a message from ADWilson on the forums stating she’d nominated me for the Spirit Animal Award. Let’s just say I was completely surprised, honored, and humbled at her nomination.

The rules for this award are…

1.) Thank the blogger who nominated you, and link back to their page.
2.) Post the award picture on your blog.
3.) Write a short paragraph about yourself and what your blog means to you.
4.) If you could be any animal, what would it be?
5.) Pick and notify ten nominees

Thank you, April (aka ADWilson) for nominating A Mushi Life on your blog Have I Got a Story For You. Reading your blog has made me smile and inspires me to enjoy my simming and writing more. Sim on! 😀  After I posted this, Twiggy nominated There Goes the Neighborhood story for the same award. I really appreciate the nomination! Twiggy’s Blog has a prettacy story, a few short stories, and some amazing builds. I’m very excited to see these as my Neighborhood story needs some new items. Thanks so much, Twiggy!

Now, I’m really not one to talk about myself because I’m pretty boring, but I’ll say a little. My name is Heather, and I’ve only been writing sim stories for two years. I started the Ramsey wishacy in Feb of 2014 with very little confidence in my writing, which is why I chose a wishacy. Somewhere in Justine’s uni years, story progression forced me to make up things along the way, thus changing how I wrote it. Since then, I also started the There Goes the Neighborhood story and A Mushi Life. With so many projects plus my involvement in the sims forums, my life is busy. But I also have a husband, two kids, and an almost full-time job. Where I find the time to write and participate and read, is beyond me. I make the time, I suppose.

Writing has become a huge part of my life. Normally, my interests elevate, I grow bored, and then sometimes I go back to them again. It’s always been like that for me. However, writing has almost always been here and I’ve not grown bored of it yet. I’ve done NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) for two years now and will most likely participate again this year. I’m constantly working on improving and will even begin a short story class tomorrow. I am seriously considering entering a short story contest, too, outside of sims. Beyond that, I love photography, reading, watching tv, spending time with the family, and learning more about all kinds of stuff.

Enough about me now. *blush*

If I could be an animal, I know I’d be a cat. Besides the fact that I love them, we have a similar independence about us, and if I had the freedom, I’d wander and explore as they do with the strong intent of coming back for mealtime.

Ten? Only ten stories? Um, that’ll be tough as I have so many favorites. Because I read Sims 3 and Sims 4 stories, I’ll be nominating five of each. To see more stories I follow, please see the side bar.

Sims 3

Late Knight Simmer aka NewToTheSims – Writes multiple stories and I’ve enjoyed them all. She was a huge encourager for me as I began writing my own story. The plots, characters, and photos are some of my favs. I know you’ll enjoy them, too. Make sure you have some time because you won’t want to stop.

Listening to My Heart by sandybeachgirl – I’ve loved this story from the beginning. Her way of writing and striving for each generation to be different helped encourage me to learn how to write better. It shows as you read from the beginning her hard work. I’ve cried, laughed, and cried some more with many other readers as we’ve read over the last few years. So find a box of tissues and find out why she’s one of the best.

Primrose Legacy of Wishes by whitewaveldc – A wishacy you won’t want to miss. I gathered much inspiration from this site (and still do). The writer does a wonderful job weaving things into the story and making me want to read more. Due to its nature, it’s an easy read, too.

The Torres Legacy by Taina – Honestly, one of the most twisted stories I’ve read, but I’ve loved every minute of it. I’ve told her she needs to write a real novel because she’s very talented in descriptions, character building, etc. She’ll even tell you I’ve had to go back and re-read things because I can’t keep up with everything. lol It’s an ongoing story, so grab a drink and expect to sit awhile. 😀

The Insane Dubois Legacy by MrsOogieBoogie (aka SimComix) – Another fantastic story with lots and lots of drama. It’s an ongoing story and the author continues to post new chapters. So buckle up and enjoy the ride.

Sims 4

Dust 2 Dust by CitizenErased14 – A story that I couldn’t stop reading. I’d stay up late at night thinking “once the next chapter ends, I’ll go to bed”. A very talented writer who will someday publish. You do not want to miss this story…so don’t. 😉

Gather Ye Rosebuds While Ye May by Rachel Rosebud – Being a neighborhood rotational story, you get to watch several families and sims around the neighborhood. It’s hilarious, a little sad, and even dramatic at times. The wittiness and talent of this writer has me going back for more. Also, she’s a fantastic builder who built Stormy Skies for Gerald in my Sims 4 neighborhood story. You won’t want to miss it out on this story.

Goofy Love Legacy by CathyTea – A very simple yet funny story. You can tell the writer loves telling the story and shares her goofiness along the way. You don’t want to miss the entertainment of this story, which will make you smile. 🙂

The Wonder Child by SummerFalls – This story is by an online friend who is very talented. With some tantalizing secrets, he’s made this wonder child challenge into his own imaginative story. It’s finished now, so you don’t want to miss spending some time drinking a cup of tea or coffee. He’s also a talented builder and some of his houses are in my Neighborhood story including Gerald’s own house. Don’t miss out on this amazing story.

Jes2G’s Stories – by Jes2G – An amazing and talented woman who is also an online friend. She always has ideas that won’t wait and turn into projects. The three stories I’ve been reading are the Pruett Legacy, Discovering Juliana, and F.I.S.H. The Pruett Legacy is finished, but the other two are still ongoing. She has stories as well and even does a few Let’s Play videos. Everything she spins with her humor and writing style, which you don’t want to miss.

I’ve written these authors to let them know of the award. Our sim’s community is certainly important to me and so are my fellow writers. These awards that circulate show our support for each other and our work. I’m proud to be part of it all.

  1. Awww! Thanks for the nomination. I wouldn’t want to be an animal lol. Being the dominate being on the planet kind of rocks. :-p However, if I am being forced to choose, I suppose I’d be a dog because they are the most like me. I would still have human friends because dogs are so lovable and loyal. But, all that eating your own vomit and cleaning yourself with your own tongue stuff? They can keep that LOL.

  2. Thank you so much for the nomination! I appreciate it and am so happy that my story and style of writing helped to inspire you. That alone makes Primrose worth every minute I spent writing it.

I found my notes for Primrose and have decided that I am going to do one final chapter to bring the story to some kind of end. Now I just have to figure out how to do that with the unused pictures I have left. So keep your eye out for one last update to the story.

    1. Really? Yayayayaya!! I’m so excited to see a final chapter to finish your legacy. I love it and sometimes I re-read it for inspiration for my wishacy. You know, bring me back to the basics. It really helps. 🙂 I’ll definitely keep an eye out!
